Vennela 1 1/2 Movie Review

0
Vennela 1 1/2
Cast: Chaitanya Krishna, Monal Gajjar,
Vennela Kishore, Madhu, Harish, Brahmanandam,
Thagubothu Ramesh, Raghu Babu
Music : Sunil Kashyap
Direction: Vennela Kishore
Genre: Comedy
Duration: 2 hours 23 minutes
Rating : 2.5/5

Story:
Vennela Kishore’s “Vennela one and half” which is a sequel for his hit film ‘Vennela’. Sudigadu beauty Monal Gajjar in the film and Vennela Kishore is playing important role in the film. Lovers Vennela (Monal Gajjar) & Sravan(Sravan) who are pursuing their education in Bangkok as they are engaged and are about to get married. Suddenly their relationship is on the verge of getting broken with the entry of Krishna (Chaitanya Krishna) who woos Vennela and even Vennela starts reciprocating him. What is mission of Krishna and whether he is really in love and how the story unfolds has to be watched on the silver screen.

Analysis:
Vennlea Kishore is continued from where he left in 'Vennela' the sequel 'Vennela one and half'. He prepared the script in the similar lines of Vennela, with love blossoming in foreign locations, separations, people conniving with each other to separate lovers and loading the film with emotions along with comedy angle. However the feel in the film is missed as the film is certified 'A' and Kishore sought to make it light. Many are left wondering why Vennela Kishore decided to make a 'A' rated film. Is it deliberate or unexpected?. The film dragged a bit in the first half and the second half picked pace with the entry of Brahmanandam. Vennela Kishore excelled as an actor but surely missed the plot as director. He could have made a clean comedy with the same story line which would have seen full screens.

Performences:
Vennela (Monal Gajjar) mesmerized all with her mystic beauty. Those who haven't watched should watch the film for her.  Krishna Chaitanya looked handsome and expressed his emotions well. Sravan played his role to perfection. As usual Vennela Kishore rocked in the film being the live wire in the film.Brahmanandam, Raghu Babu, Master Bharat and others supported the main cast in unison. Pruthvi as cab driver kept audience glued to the screens.

Technicalities:
Studio Gr8 films productions values are quite good. There is nothing much to rave about Sunil Kashyap's music. Kishore could have done away with the songs. However his background music is appealing.Suresh Bhargav captured the beauty of Bangkok giving viewer beauty treat.

Final Word :
Vennela Kishore will surely disappoints you if you are expecting non stop comedy from this film like vennela.

Charulatha Movie Review

0

Charulatha (2012)
Cast : Priyamani, Skanda, Saranya Ponvannan, Seetha
Music : Sundar C Babu
Cinematography : Panner Selvam
Producer: Allu Aravind
Banner: Geetha Arts
Director: Ponkumaran
Rating : 2.5/5

The Film
Charulatha is an official adaptation of the 2007 Thai film titled Fad (Alone in English version) starring pop singer Marsha Wattanapanich in the lead role and directed by Banjong Pisanthanakun and Parkpoom Wongpoom.

The Synopsis
Charu and Latha ( both played by Priyamani) are conjoined twins. In the hospital where they get treated, they happen to meet Ravi (Skanda). Both the twins fall in love with him, but he loves only Charu. When the conjoined twins get separated, Charu is found dead. Latha impersonates Charu and tries to get married to Ravi. When she goes to Vizag to attend to her sick mother, the soul of departed Charu starts haunting her. Ravi comes to know the truth which leads to a predictable climax.

The Performances
Priyamani gives a spirited performance as Charu and Latha, clearly showcasing the different characteristics of the two roles she played. Skanda is decent. The other few characters fit the bill.

The Techniques
The story has an interesting premise, but the insipid screenplay makes the narration a pain at both the top and bottom of the spine to watch. Dialogues do not add any value to the story telling. Music is ok and the background score is good. Panner Selvam’s cinematography is the only saving grace.

The Verdict
Charulatha touted as a horror-thriller has neither horror nor is it thrilling. Director Ponkumaran has aborted a pregnant opportunity to deliver a clincher. Priyamani is impressive, but her histrionics are hampered by wayward storytelling.
